Medium-spin excited states of the neutron-rich nucleus $^{87}$Br were observed and studied for first time. They populated in fission $^{235}$U induced by cold-neutron beam PF1B facility Institut Laue-Langevin, Grenoble. The measurement $\gamma$ radiation following has been performed using EXILL array Ge detectors. level scheme was compared with results large valence space shell model calculations. medium-spin consists three band-like structures, which can be understood as bands built on ${\pi}f_{5/2}$, ${\pi}(p_{3/2}+f_{5/2})$ ${\pi}g_{9/2}$ configurations. behavior band at high spins shows a considerable deviation from predictions. This this is probably result an increased collectivity, assuming that high-$\it j$ proton polarizes core.
